WHAT ARE GROUPS?

 

 

MEN'S GROUP

 

 

The men's group is for men dealing with forms of compulsive or addictive sexual behavior (i.e. porn, masturbation, affairs, prostitution, unwanted same-sex activity, etc.). The group is a community that allows strugglers to confess and experience authenticity in a safe, non-judgmental environment. It is a recovery support group, not a “class” or an accountability group. There is no charge for this group, and although we hope men who attend will come regularly, participants can come and go on a weekly basis.

 

Our group has a Christ-centered 12-Step focus, combining proven approaches to recovery with a strong Gospel message. A focus on the Gospel helps to dispel the crippling shame that most Christian men feel when struggling with sexual brokenness, allowing them to believe what Scripture says is true of them as sons of God; and a commitment to the process of recovery helps to introduce necessary disciplines and new life patterns that will help break old cycles of behavior.

 

 

 

WOMEN'S GROUP

 

 

Though a primary focus of this group is women who have been affected by their husband’s sexual behavior, there is also benefit for any woman who experiences unhealthy relationships. Many wives of sex addicts experience significant and unexpected trauma following their discovery of their husband’s actions. There is no charge for this group, and though we hope women will attend regularly, participants can come and go on a weekly basis.

 

The group focuses on identifying issues that keep women “stuck” in unhealthy relationship dynamics, and on changes in beliefs and actions that can help them become healthy apart from their husband’s or significant other's progress. While restoration to a healthy marriage or relationship is the ultimate goal, we recognize that getting healthy on an individual level – rather than on trying to change another person – is a better goal. Women who attend the group find an understanding group who support them without judgment.

Men meet every Thursday night from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm.

Women meet every Thursday night from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm.
